Deep Bowl, Heavy Rim and Top-Mount Flatness

The 240 mm bowl depth was deeper than many standard residential sink configurations, while the project also specified a 3.0 mm upper structure combined with a 0.8 mm sink body. For a top-mount sink, the development therefore had to consider not only bowl depth but also the relationship between the heavier upper structure, rim geometry and countertop contact surface.

The deeper handmade structure also increased the importance of protecting the rim and bowl during export packing.

Use Handmade Fabrication Around the Required Structure

Matrix used handmade fabrication rather than forcing the design into an existing pressed-sink mold. The sink was developed around the required 700 × 450 × 240 mm dimensions, with the 3.0 mm + 0.8 mm material structure maintained as part of the product specification.

Particular attention was given to the top-mount rim structure and the relationship between the deeper bowl and installation surface. For shipment, each sink was packed individually using a 3 mm foam box inside the outer carton to provide additional protection around the customized structure.

A Custom Deep-Bowl Top-Mount Configuration

The final project combined a 240 mm deep handmade bowl, top-mount installation and a project-specific thickness structure within a 700 × 450 mm footprint.

Rather than adapting the project to a standard pressed model, the finished specification followed the customer's required dimensions and installation structure, with individual export packing defined as part of the complete product configuration.

The Sink Was Only One Part of the SKU

This was a multifunction sink program rather than a sink-body-only project. The 750 × 450 × 220 mm handmade sink had to be supplied together with the drain, cutting board, basket, colander and soap dispenser.

That creates a different development requirement from a standard single-bowl sink: the sink structure and accessory configuration need to work as one complete SKU, while the packing must accommodate several components without creating unnecessary contact or movement during transportation. The project also required three sinks per carton rather than individual packing.

Develop the Sink and Accessory Set as One Configuration

Matrix treated the sink body, functional accessories and packing arrangement as one product program.

The handmade sink was produced to the required 750 × 450 × 220 mm dimensions using SUS304 with a 3.0 mm + 1.0 mm thickness specification. The drain, cutting board, basket and colander were included as part of the defined accessory configuration, together with the SUS201 soap dispenser.

For export packing, high-density foam was used around the sink products before placement in the outer carton, with three sinks packed per carton according to the confirmed project requirement.

One Complete Multifunction Sink SKU

The completed project was not simply a customized sink body. It combined the handmade stainless steel sink, multiple functional accessories, soap dispenser and project-specific packing into one defined product configuration.

This allowed the product specification to cover what the buyer would actually receive as a complete SKU rather than treating accessories and packing as separate afterthoughts.

The New Sink Had to Fit an Existing Kitchen

Unlike a new kitchen project where the countertop opening can be designed around the sink, this residential project involved replacing an existing sink that had already been removed. The new sink therefore had to be developed around the existing countertop and undermount installation condition.

Two dimensions were especially important:
• 24 × 17.5 in sink opening
• 25.25 × 18.5 in outer flange

The new sink could not simply be selected by nominal catalog size. The relationship between the existing opening, flange width and installation edge had to be considered before production. A mismatch could require additional countertop modification or create problems with undermount installation.

Design Around the Existing Opening, Not a Standard Mold

Matrix treated the project as a custom handmade replacement sink rather than selecting the closest standard pressed model. The bowl opening and outer flange were defined separately so the sink structure could be developed around the existing countertop condition.

The project focused on: matching the required opening geometry, maintaining sufficient flange area for undermount installation, keeping the single-bowl structure within the available space, using the requested SUS304 material, and supplying the drain and installation accessories together with the sink.

Handmade fabrication provided the dimensional flexibility required for the replacement project without depending on a fixed pressed-sink mold.

The Sink Adapted to the Kitchen — Not the Other Way Around

The final sink specification followed the existing countertop opening and replacement installation requirement instead of requiring the kitchen to adapt to a standard catalog sink.

The custom SUS304 undermount sink was configured with the required flange and opening dimensions and supplied together with the drain and installation accessories, with individual high-density foam protection for shipment.

For replacement sink projects, controlling the relationship between the sink opening, outer flange and installation edge can be more important than matching a nominal sink size.
